DVI versus HDMI

Today I will discuss DVI versus HDMI. As most of you know, the HDMI is the new standard of digital television and the new format high-definition television. So what is the difference between the two formats? Well we do know that HDMI is much newer. The video preferences of HDMI and DVI is the same, DVI is more sensitive to quality while the HDMI is fully digital providing the best picture and sound available (remember this as companies still tries to sell you expensive HDMI cables claiming their cable is of better quality).

The DVI offers video signal only while the new HDMI provides you both with digital video signal and digital audio signal, as well as copyright protection hardware. To discuss the video preferences of them both, the both formats offers superior video quality, however the DVI is beginning to get outdated as more and more competitive formats enter the market. The video quality between DVI and HDMI is fairly the same, but the HDMI has the advantage of digital updates which will provide HDMI with superior functionality and hardware.

DVI offers no audio signal; the HDMI offers you all the latest formats of digital audio, offering you the best of sound quality. So the HDMI offers you the state of the art video quality and the state of the art sound quality, as well as having the advantage of digital updates.

The DVI cable is slowly dying, even so it is the most used monitor cable available it will soon be eliminated by the superior formats of Display Port and HDMI, so if you’re looking for a future proof solution choose HDMI.
